SPRING CLEANING YOUR MIND| DECLUTTERING YOUR MIND

How is your mind? I don't think we ever really take time to ask that question. Let's admit it. Our minds are cluttered with thoughts that hold us from doing great things and living a successful and purposeful life. As Spring gives us a sense of renewal, It's such a great time of year to renew your mind and declutter old habits and old ways of thinking.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Can't find the time, energy, or motivation to do the things you need to do or things you used to love doing?
All the thoughts that are racing through our minds create mental clutter. It's time to declutter our minds of things that no longer serve us. Let me show you a few ways to start decluttering your mind.
1. BRAIN DUMP
What Is Brain Dumping?
Brain dumping is a way for you to organize your thoughts and ideas. Getting those thoughts on paper can help you organize, download, and reflect. When your brain is clear or empty, it is much easier to see what is in front of you.
Now you're wondering how to brain dump, well here it is:
Here is what you need: Take some time to focus on this activity, a journal, and a pen or pencil.
Now it's time to start writing; record all your thoughts circulating in your mind. It's important not to overthink this part, don't focus on grammar or spelling, don't focus on analyzing your thoughts, and don't focus on organizing them. Just write.

After recording all your thoughts on paper, it's time to reflect. Not every thought that passes through is based on truth; you have the option to accept it or release it. So, are your thoughts based on facts, or are they based on fear, negative self-talk, comparisons, insecurities, or living in the past?
Brain dumping can help you notice and identify repetitive behavior and thoughts. Now ask yourself, are these thoughts serving me?
2. SELF-REFLECTION
Be intentional with your time. Stop ignoring your emotions or feelings that are causing you to feel anxious, stressed, and overall thinking negatively. Instead, it's time to sit and journal and reflect.
Self-reflection involves going into depth and analyzing the thoughts and emotions we've written down. How are you feeling? What triggered you to feel that way? How did you respond to that trigger? What is your coping mechanism? How can you release the thoughts that are no longer serving you?
3. LET GO OF TOXIC THOUGHTS & PEOPLE
There is a lot of emotional, mental, and physical energy you are wasting by being around toxic people and holding on to negative thoughts. No matter what your current situation looks like, it is possible to change it for the better. The first step is to let go of negative mindsets and toxic people. Then, be around positive people that support your dreams and work towards helping you achieve them. You can do anything as long as you have the right mindset and surround yourself with the right people.
It may not be that easy for you to let go of certain toxic people because maybe they are coworkers. The best thing to do in this situation is to set boundaries to help protect yourself and your peace and to limit the amount of access they have to you.
Filter what you're letting into your mind. Your mind is a powerful tool that can affect how you think, feel, and act. There are definitely negative thoughts that can hold you back.
What causes toxic thoughts, and why do we let them get to us? These are select thoughts or memories we repeatedly replay in our minds that provide no benefit but only harm. It's hard to let go of something holding us back – especially when we can't see what is stealing from us. It's easy to recognize pain in the neck when we see it and label it as "toxic," but what about those toxic thoughts invisible to us? They are just as bad for our health and happiness, and it's time to let them go.
4. ACCEPT POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND POSITIVE TALK
The words you speak and the thoughts you think directly impact your reality.Sometimes we can get caught up in a negative mindset.
How do you achieve a positive mindset?
Start with implementing daily positive affirmations. By constant repetition of those positive affirmations. All the words you say to yourself or think about yourself shape your reality. Repeating negative statements give you a negative mindset that does not serve you. Check in with yourself daily, be aware of your thoughts and make them positive.
Stop saying things like "I am not good enough" and start saying things like "I am more than enough". Start replacing negative thoughts and words with positive ones. We can turn any negative thought into a positive one by simply changing our perception and saying what we want instead of what we have already been told or thinking negatively.
And while I know, it's easier said than done, take it one day at a time.
5. PRACTICE SELF COMPASSION
What is Self Compassion?
"The practice of being kind and understanding to oneself in instances of pain or failure," defined by Dr. Kristin Neff.
Between societal pressures and digital overload, we need a constant reminder that we're only human—with strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures. And we are constantly growing and evolving.
Self-compassion is an emotional tool to help you become more aware of your emotions, thoughts, and actions while also understanding that we all make mistakes and fail. This allows you to keep things in perspective when things aren't going your way so that you don't spiral into negativity.
How To Practice Self Compassion?
Everyone expects perfection from themselves. But you know what? Nobody is perfect. You are not your mistakes, and neither should you be.
However, everyone makes mistakes, and it's possible to learn from them and move forward. Self-compassion is all about understanding the power of being kind to yourself, practicing gratitude, unlearning toxic and unnecessary pressures from society, forgiving yourself, and taking breaks when you need to because you are only human.
6. CREATE ROUTINES
I've been through the daily routine challenge. It's not easy to piece together a complete and healthy routine in today's fast-paced world where your focus and attention are pulled in every direction.
I don't know about you, but I've always found it difficult to set a daily routine, but once I started making steps to really focus and create a routine, my everyday life changed, I was able to feel more in control of my life.
Whether it's a morning routine, evening routine, or mid-day routine, routines help establish structure and force you to use your time best. In addition, implementing routines enables you to adopt healthy habits into your daily life that can help in reducing stress and making life more enjoyable.
I've created a list of activities you can implement in your morning and evening routine in our Spring cleaning your mind worksheet. Grab the worksheet for free.
